Avery Monsees

Director

Avery Monsees brings nearly a decade of communications experience as Director. She combines her deep public policy experience in the cybersecurity sector with her ability to work efficiently under pressure to deliver client wins.   

 

Having previously served as the lead media relations advisor for the Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity division, Avery maintains strong press ties and can shape the media narrative on important policy issues. She recently secured an exclusive in POLITICO on behalf of a coalition, in which the article highlighted the client’s technical report. Avery and her team continue to drive media coverage for clients in prominent publications nationwide.   

 

Prior to joining Narrative, Avery served in the Biden Administration as Senior Advisor for Public Affairs at the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where she led the agency’s media relations operations. Prior to her time at CISA, Avery worked on Capitol Hill, serving as Press Secretary for US Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) and as a Legislative Aide for the US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. During the 2020 campaign cycle, Avery joined US Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s (D-NH) re-election campaign as a Communications and Advance Assistant.  

 

Avery earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Loyola University New Orleans. Avery finds joy in all the small things, like bringing people together through cooking and taking long walks with her husband and their dog, Rocky.
